FCD Community Partner Award

Family Connects Durham is excited to announce that we have received the community partner award from Breastfeed Durham in recognition of our family and breastfeeding friendly practices and services offered to families in the early postpartum period (0-3 months). We are grateful for our partners at Breastfeed Durham, who seek to normalize and improve breastfeeding policies and access in our community.

Every child and every lactation situation’s needs are unique and our nurses are well equipped to join with families in this beautiful and vulnerable time.

One of the many supports that Family Connects Durham nurses can provide a family with is brief lactation counseling. We have compassionate and competent IBCLC nurses who can incorporate lactation education and guidance into their usual postpartum home visits. Every child and every lactation situation’s needs are unique and our nurses are well equipped to join with families in this beautiful and vulnerable time. If it’s assessed that your lactation counseling needs extend beyond our usual 1-3 postpartum home visits with a family, our nurses can help make a referral to another community resource or agency that is better positioned to provide ongoing lactation care.
