Join Us in Giving Thanks!

This week, we’d like to express our gratitude for our wonderful clinicians, home visitors, and staff, the organizations whose grants allow us to do this important work, and our kind and generous donors who help keep us going!

Here at the Center for Child & Family Health, we strive to define, practice, and teach the highest standards of care in treating and preventing childhood trauma. Our clinicians, home visitors, and staff work hard year-round to bring trauma-informed, inclusive, equitable, and transformative prevention and treatment services to children and families in Durham and the surrounding communities.

Giving Tuesday, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is a great chance to support the local work done by the Center for Child & Family Health! Here are some of the ways your Giving Tuesday donations can give back to the community:

  • The average cost of a course of trauma treatment is $4,200. Even for clients with insurance, this isn’t fully covered by private insurance and Medicaid. But you can help ensure that children in our community have access to trauma-informed mental healthcare. Your gift helps cover the cost of unreimbursed treatment for a child in the Urbaniak Clinic.
  • Help us provide no-cost postpartum home visits from registered nurses to families in Durham County through Family Connects Durham (formerly Durham Connects), a community-wide nurse home visiting program for all parents of newborns, regardless of income or socioeconomic status. Our mission is to increase child well-being by bridging the gap between parent needs and community resources.

On this Giving Tuesday, don’t forget that CCFH was approved to join this year’s official employee giving campaigns for the state of North Carolina and the federal government! If you are a state or federal employee or retiree, you can now donate to CCFH via payroll deduction or annuity.

State employees and retirees, make your pledge to CCFH here by December 31, 2022. CCFH’s designation code for State Employees Combined Campaign is 4151.

Federal employees and retirees, make your pledge to CCFH here by January 14, 2023. Our Combined Federal Campaign code is 55073.

We hope you’ll join us in bringing trauma-informed, inclusive, equitable, and transformative treatment to North Carolina and thanking our clinicians and home visitors for their hard work this Giving Tuesday, November 29th!
