John Fairbank, PhD

John Fairbank joined the CCFH Board as a Duke University representative in 2003. Dr. Fairbank served as the former Co-Director of the National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS) and now serves as senior advisor to the NCCTS leadership team. Dr. Fairbank is a past president of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) and serves on advisory boards for numerous organizations, including the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (NC-PTSD). He is a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of research and clinical experience in the field of traumatic stress in children and adults. Dr. Fairbank has secured several grants over the last few years and contributed to many publications on how war trauma impacts children and families.
