John Curry joined the CCFH Board as a Duke University representative in 2021. Dr. Curry provided psychological treatment for children and adolescents experiencing emotional or behavioral problems, and taught courses on human development and clinical interventions as a Duke professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences for over 20 years. He served as a Faculty Network Member of the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences and as a current affiliate of the Center for Child and Family Policy. John is now retired and resides in Durham.

“In my professional work as a psychologist, I learned about the powerful negative effects that trauma can have on youth and adults. CCFH provides greatly needed, evidence-based services to treat young people as well as community-based prevention programs to lower the risk of future trauma. It is hard for me to think of a more important or valuable organization affecting the lives of children in our community than CCFH, and I hope to contribute to its continued positive impact.”
