Mission & Approach PDF Print E-mail

Our mission is to care for children and families affected by trauma, abuse, and other forms of adversity. Our professionals utilize a multidisciplinary measurable approach to provide prevention services, treatment for children and families, professional training, and research related to child traumatic stress by uniquely integrating community-based practice and academic excellence.

At the Center for Child & Family Health we believe that every child has the right to be loved, nurtured, and safe. As a center of excellence we define the highest standards in the prevention and treatment of childhood trauma. In this way stability and hope can be restored for children and their families.

We do this by:
• providing direct services to children and their families
• conducting and disseminating research
• advocating for effective public policies and practices
• assisting other communities in replicating our collaborative approach

During the 2007-08 fiscal year, we provided direct mental health services for 2,850 children and family members. We trained over 2,500 professionals and para-professionals across the state and nation, bringing the number of children benefitting from our efforts close to 16,000. Committed to improving care for traumatized children, CCFH remains one of the few providers in the nation with an extensive multidisciplinary specialization in caring for youth who present with complex backgrounds of adversity.
